Deck Fitting

She’s coming together!  As promised, we are sharing our most up to date pictures and information on the progress of our new day boat, officially named 37 Billfish.  These pictures will give you a glimpse of the clean lines and impressive size of her 37 feet.  Enjoy and please let us know what you think!  Stay tuned for more to come….

  1. I saw an advertisement for this boat in the Coastal Fisherman magazine (out of OC, MD). Wow, what a great idea. I took a tuna trip last year out of Cape May on an open boat of a friend of mine. I love the idea of the open boat for its fishing-centered nature, but I hate driving the thing. The visibility from the helm can never be matched by a flybridge. Your Ocean 37 would be perfect for a nice overnighter off the NJ coast.

The lines of this boat are great. If you take away the Ocean label, no one would know which manufacturer was responsible. Very cool departure from the main Ocean sportfisherman. Love the open bulkhead. I’m assuming from the design that there are seats at the end of the aft bulkhead in the cockpit to watch the baits? If so, is there storage/freezer underneath? Is there a step-up into the main deck cabin? Can the lower helm be replace with a full length couch on the port side? I prefer a place to stretch out on long canyon trips. What kind of power will she have? What kind of speeds are you looking to get? I think a cruise of 26 knots is perfect (but I guess I’m old school with that one). Fuel economy (especially today) at cruise is more important to me than any other speed figure. A 1mpg figure would be nice at cruise.

I wish I were in the market for such a vessel (being a teacher… I don’t see myself buying this type of boat any time soon), because I feel it would be perfect for just about any type of fishing off the NJ coast… drifting for fluke, trolling for marlin, fishing the rips for stripers, wreck fishing, or overnighting the canyon… it’s all good with this boat.

If you ever need a crew member for this boat, please don’t hesitate to e-mail : )
